Explaining a Success: 之所以…是因为

Highlighting the Cause

A 之所以 B，是因为 C

This structure reverses the usual order: one first announces the result (之所以), then reveals the cause (是因为). The explanatory effect is guaranteed and is highly prized in writing.

Subject + 之所以…，是因为…

他tā 之zhī 所以suǒ yǐ 成功chéng gōng，是shì 因为yīn wèi 他tā 从cóng 不bù 放弃fàng qì。

If he succeeded, it is because he never gives up.

我wǒ 之zhī 所以suǒ yǐ学xué汉语hàn yǔ，是shì 因为yīn wèi 我wǒ 喜欢xǐ huān 中国zhōng guó 文化wén huà。

If I learn Chinese, it is because I like Chinese culture.
